Default RE: HELP!!!!

after an hour of searching i still cant find the egr, or anything that remotely resembles an egr valve. I did find a broken vacuum line coming off ther vacuum booster on the throttle body, i'll check to see if this was the cause when i go to work tonight.

does anyone know where the valve is for sure on a 2.8L mpfi?

im pretty sure the v6's had a "digital EGR valve" which isnt going to look like ur usual EGR. the Digital valve will be to the left of your intake manifold if youre looking at the vehicle from the front. its hard to describe it but it will have a few connectors, 2 or 3, all connected to a valve. its kinda right behind the alternator. there is a whole flowchart of tests you should do before replacing parts, but theyre hard to get unless u have access to a Mitchell or Alldata kind of system.

thats what i have then. the haynes manual said i would have one, but couldnt find it. Then on the next page it showed a pic of my engine and it showed the digital egr...but anyway the broken vacuum line was the problem, so now it runs perfectly!

One question though. Is there a way to get the fan to kick on at a cooler temp.? On the way to work th eait temp. was 70 degrees. Teh fan would kick on at 230 degrees and cool the engine down to about 180. Then the temp would rapidly rise again. Any suggestions?

The temps that turn on and off your fan are set at the factory. But if the sensor isgiving bad info it could cause the On/Off points to be wrong. check you haynes manual. It should show you where that sensor is.

summit has a fan controller part #HYP-4026 made by Hypertech. It turns on at 176 degrees and off at 166. HYP-4028 is 200 on and 185 off. and jet-60600 is 195 on and 185 off. they run about 40 to 45 dollars.

thanks, i've noticed that if i keep my heat on, the temp. stay where it should. but if i turn my heat off, the temp will reise and sometimes the fan will kick on, other times it will not.

hey loncey, i checked on the fans you were talking about and they only have them for the 5.0L engines, not the 2.8L. would be nice though
