Default header questions

ok are the header bolt paterns the same between 305 heads and most 350 heads?

i want headers for my car now but ill eventually swap to a 350

and what are the cheapest headers as im not going for looks just performance and sound

also are there any low profile mufflers as i want to run duals that end in front of the rear tires probably 3 in pipe

would there be clearance issues using cherrybomb glasspacks?

Yes.

Jegs headers: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/30053/10002/-1

Tons of clearance issues, stick with a 3" single pipe with a 3" cross flow muffler.

Search.

what clearance issues will i have other than the ac box thing?

i was thinking about taking that out and closing it up with sheet metal. i haven't found any kit to do it and make it look clean though.

I have a set of headman headers on mine in order to remove them the only thing i needed to do is remove my valve covers and oil dipstick

well i guess you would also have to deal with the A/C lines also

No clearance issues with the headers, unless you go long tubes. The dual exhaust is where you run into clearance issues.

Don't see emissions mentioned anywhere here...?

Emissions? who needs emissions? in NM they don't have a smog test or anything like that so I can do whatever I want wtih my car/truck.
Yep, 305 headers will fit on a 350. Anything up to vortecs have the same bolt pattern...
Glasspacks will fit, or should, but they are going to give you a LOT of annoying
resonance inside the car. My truck with straight pipes gives me less interior noise than it did with glasspacks.
if you want to spend a little bit more $$ on mufflers, give these guys a shot... http://www.jegs.com/p/Cherry+Bomb/767133/10002/-1 they are wider but pretty short.
or try these, I hear good things about these guys...http://www.jegs.com/p/Car+Chemistry/752539/10002/-1
they have a cheaper weld/rivet in version as well...

yeah i was looking at that wide cherrybomb thats more or less the style i was going to use with duals but with single out instead of dual output

hell my stock exhaust as it sits now sits nearly 2-3 inches from the undercarriage so why would there be clearance issues with duals?

im not running them over the axle just in front of the rear tires

You should be fine. You COULD run side-pipes and go with a more custom look.... but they'd have to be custom made methinks.
You should be good to go, the headers will fit, the exhaust will fit... all that's left now is to get to work! and don't forget to give us a sound clip when ur done!
