Default A good deal or steer clear

I have the chance to get a 91 RS with the V6 motor for $300. The guy that owns it said that it does run and drive. It has been sitting for about year and I know that the gauges do not work and that it needs a drivers seat. Apparently the drivers seat broke and it was removed and the passengers seat was moved to the drivers side. I'm going to go and see the car in person on Sunday and just might buy it. I'm thinking that $300 is a really good deal, but would like to see what the more experienced guys on the 3rd gen camaros think about it.

I had a 91 a few years ago, and liked it, but it had the "monster" 305 in it! Without pictures it's hard to give an opinion, but I'm sure there are a couple of parts on the car that are worth that much, so you can't lose. Just as long as the car isn't a money pit to get and keep it on the road. Btw, I have a complete gauge cluster, should yours need one. If all the gauges don't work though, it might just be a bad wiring connection to or at the cluster. Check the fuses too.

I'll see the car on Sunday and will take pictures and give it a good look over. At the least I can make my money back plus some if I part it out. The gauges, I was told, do light up but the don't give readings, so I was thinking wiring as well.

The gauge lights go on with the headlight switch. The gauges themselves are on different circuits and controlled by unrelated sensors. All the gauges are electric, even the speedo. If none of them work, I would first suspect a bad ground.
