Fuel Line Help
Hello to all my third gen friends!
I am in need of a little help!
I recently bought a 1983 z28. Everything so far has been perfect. Picked it up for a steal. The body is near perfect. Needs minor interior work and a few gaskets replaced but other than that, its a great car.
I was filling up yesterday and after i finished and started up and began to leave, the guy on the pump next to me stopped me and said i was leaking something fierce. I got under it and it turned out to be a gas line. Leaving from the tank and going up to the front (I'm assuming its the line that connects into another line that runs to the fuel pump.) Luckily i lived right around the block and i was able to get it home and parked it. it maybe in total poured out a gallon and a half to 2 gallons of gas. It slowly leaked and dripped for maybe the next 30-40 minutes then stopped. I started it back up after i knew it was done dripping and nothing happened!
Is this because it could have possibly popped off as soon as i started it from the gas station with the pressure of the fuel pump and that is why fuel was pouring out because of the pressure left coming out of the tank? I drove it around the neighborhood and nothing happened. i'm thinking it could have still been running because there was still some fuel in the carb. I am no where near a professional mechanic and one reason why i got the car is so i can expand my knowledge of cars and motors.
Any and all help and advice is appreciated!
Thank you.
