Default fuel gauge

i have a 1980 camaro and the gas gauge worked when i first got it but it doesnt now. i didnt do anything to the electrical system and all the fuses seem to be allright. any suggestions?

the fuel guages in these cars are just a crude variable resistor in the gas tank and go out all the time. I've had 2 89 camaros and the gas guage didn't work properly on either.

I'm not sure about 2nd gen camaros but 3rd gens cost a lot to fix.

The sending unit is inside the tank and you need to drop the tank to replace it.
