Default Fuel Gage and tach not working?

Well the other day i was driving my camaro and it ran out of gas. The fuel gage dances around and sometimes it stays in one spot. I thought this was the level a 1/4 tank left. obivously it was not. Does anyone know how i go about fixing this. Do i need to buy all new gages. Also the tach stays all the way up. but goes back down when i turn the key off. I have a manual car don't know if that makes any difference the way the tach is hooked up. Any help is grately appreciated.

You might have a stuck float in your gas tank. When that happens, it's usually a bad ground.

The tach picks up a signal from the coil so it does not know the difference in transmisions. As for the bouncing gauge it could be from the float, the wireing to the gauge. I would start by checking the wiring under the dash. You might even find why your tach does its thing.
