Exclamation few questions about my new 3rd gen

i just bought a 1991 z28 and plan to fix it up, has 135k miles on it but i would like to ask a few questions first ( these are all kind of random and i dont know if i have to ask on a specific section )

1. what exactly is the transmission in it? its the 350 with the auto but i dont know the name of the transmission. Also can i buy a gate shifter for it?

2. i just bought some 17x9.5 rims for it, theyre just like whats on 4th gen ss cars but chrome, and i would like to know if i have to buy a spacer to use them on my 3rd gen if so how big?

3. it smells like its running rich, i know that the guy i bought it from said he put new fuel injectors on it but thats all i know about it so im wondering if something could be wrong or if i can just adjust it ( im still learning alot about mechanics )

4. the roads around my town are rough so is there a way i can adjust the exhaust to sit higher without some serious work?

5. is there anywhere i can post a "build thread"? i would like to show all my progress on the car and post pictures as well as ask more questions that i come up with, and any answers at all would be appreciated

Welcome to the forums.

1) If it hasn't been changed it will be a 700r4 overdrive Transmission.
2) If they are stock 4th gen rims you will need 2" spacers all the way around.

Some other info so you can check backspacing and see what you need.
15-inch: 15x8 with 4 1/2-inch backspacing front and rear. Use tires with an
aspect ratio of 55 or less with a section width of 255.
16-inch: 16x8 with 4 1/2-inch backspacing front, 5 1/8 backspacing rear. Use
tires with an aspect ratio of 55 or less and a section width of 255.
17-inch: 17x9 with 5 1/2 inch backspacing front and rear. Use tires with an
aspect ratio of 40 or less with section widths of 255 front, 275 rear.
18-inch: 18x9 1/2 with 5 1/2-inch backspacing front, 18x10 with 6-inch
backspacing rear. Use tires with an aspect ratio of 35 or less with
section widths of 275 fron, 275-295 rear.

3) Lots of variables, would suggest a tune-up. Is it throwing and codes? Still have the TPI on it?

4) Not really.

5) Sure if you read a little bit you will figure out where you can do your build thread at :P
