Default Engine Rattling...ehh

please read: I need help lol
Well it's been extremely cold here as of late, and my Camaro dosen't seem to like it anymore than I do. Ever since temps started dropping to the 20s and lower, my engine makes this rattling noise after I push the clutch in. It's hard to explain without being there in person but I will try my best in hopes someone can help me.
Very cold out - Start my car - Pull out of the driveway - Come to the first stoplight about a block down - As I prepare to stop, I push the brake and disengage the clutch. - RPM's rise to about 1500 since the engine is trying to warm up and the clutch is now disengaged.
RIGHT NOW is when the rattling occurs. It's very noticeable and sounds almost like an old diesel engine. It goes away for the most part when the engine is pulling the car, and I have yet to hear it once the engine is running at normal operating temperature. I'm already struggling to get this thing inspected without this problem, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks

If the car is carbed, The increase in RPM is normal for a cold engine. If the car is injected the increse in RPM is not normal, and the IAC valve may not be working properly or the ECT may have drifted. The rattling is probably due to lack of lube when the engine is cold. I don't know what viscosity oil you are using, but for 20 deg temps, 5W30 is a good choice.

Where is the noise coming from? from the engine compartment is it high, low, left or right. is the engine bay stock?

if your clutch feels different or any trouble shifting, the rattle might be from the throw out bearing. and as for the idle, if its carbed your choke might be stuck.

Well it's a 305 TBI L03 motor. Clutch feels normal. The rattling noise is relatively loud and noticable. I have not yet been out of the car to listen to the noise so I am not sure exactly from where in the engine bay it's coming from. Yes it is 100% stock under the hood, minus an air filter. Thanks everyone for the help so far.
