Default RE: emissions

thanks alot guys that was a big help. i wasnt sure what all was involved with everything but i do have one more question. a buddy of mine has a set of edelbrock headers for a motor like mine. however with the headers you can take out or hook up the air system. my question is with the air system does that work with the evap taking unburned fuel and sending it to the cat to get burned off? and what would happen by taking out the air pump and all that? also how hard would it be?

The air is just clean air into the exhaust so if you have no emission inspection it wont be missed. But I think it is a ***** putting headers on. I did my Edelbrock when I had the motor out. But it can be done.

Evap has NOTHING to do with exhaust. It is simply a system that collects fuel vapors and recirculates them to the tank when venting pressure from the tank.

If you are considering doing a motor swap, all your emissions equip will virtually come out with the 305 when you pull it.

I would just leave the emissions equipment in place, you won't gain anything by removing it on a TBI 305 other than a headache.
