Default egr vs. non egr?

Hi,
Ijust bought a 1985 z-28 with a 305 and 5-speed transmission.I was looking to replace the intake and carb withone of the performer kits from edelbrock. For this car to pass emissions testing do i need to get an egr-compatible intake manifold?

Thanks for your help.

thanks for your replies,
would you happen to know the what the stock horse power rating for the car?

also would there be much of a performance increase with the egr performer intake, holley 4160 600cfm carb and a cat-back exhaust?
