Default Draining my tank

Does anyone know if there is a screen down the filler tube? I have been trying to siphon gas out of my tank to replace it but the tube does not seem to want to go down far enough.

I dont know if there is but if it hose you're trying to use doesnt go down there then there probably is. I was going to sugguest to have you try to stick somthing in there. Does the hose get wet?

check your tank for a train port near the pump if it has an inside tank pump. some cars have a port where you hook a tube up there and siphon it out, much easier. had to do it on my old spirit when i changed the fuel pump.

Sante65, I recently replaced my fuel tank and remember seeing a baffle platejust at the inside end of the filler tube. You might be able to fish a small diameter hose and see if it can pass that baffle but I think it was designed to prevent siphoning. My 88 has 4 hoses coming out of the fuel tank sending unit cradle. You can try and locate the return line from the fuel rail and try to extract from there. A connection with a hose clamp is on the drivers side just above the rear diff. You might be able to siphon from there because that line goes close to the bottom of the tank. Don't forget to lossen your gas cap.
