Default Does this look okay?

Hi I'm turning 16 and was looking at cars to buy and I found this Camaro. It looks to good to be true because it only has 20k miles on it. Is there something else wrong with the car that I didn't notice? Also would this be a good first car? Thanks for any help you have to offer.Cars for Sale: 1990 Chevrolet Camaro RS Coupe in HOLLYWOOD, FL 33023: Coupe Details - 295453570 - AutoTrader.com

It is a swapped motor, but that is not the only thing that would worry me as a buyer. I don't know what a boarded out motor is, I'm assuming bored, but then it would be either a 305+.030 or a 350+.030 (I know there is other bores than 30 over). I highly doubt the car has 20,000 miles on it as well. If so it would go for a lot more than 3800

it never hurts to look at it. THat is what dad or uncle is for, to look at it without emotion.

One thing, you are in FL. Take a good hard look at the AC compressor. What don't you see running to it? That's right, refrigerant hoses.

A person in Weston FL just bought the 89 RS which i completely restored and it has a new compressor/dryer/orifice and is now R134a

We need the A/C in this state

Thanks guys. I did think the price was a bit low for a car with such low miles. Another question, how many miles will a '90-'92 Camaro run for and are the parts expensive. I would try and do most repairs myself.

I am not sure how long a brand new rebuilt motor will last. I still can not figure out how a motor can be brand new and rebuilt.

There is not way to answer that question. How long a 22 year car is going to last will depend on how it has been used and maintained. GM designs cars to last about 8 years. It is not uncommon to get 1/4 of a million miles on a SBC but that would be highway miles on a new car.

A 2 barrel carb? that is not stock, if there is any emissions you will not pass.

to an untrained person, if you look at a TBI what does it look like; yup, a 2bbl.

I'd check the casting #s, it's probably just a 305 TBI

no emissions in FL. Not even any safety inspections

if it is 20k miles, it was a very hard and abusive 20k if he blew the motor up and hit as many speed bumps as the front lip has seen, and needs new brakes. i would steer clear of it unless you take it for what it is

That is a nice car I thinkits worth the money but at the same time you could get a newer then that z28 for that but if you want the older car I would get that.

Why would there be a 2 bbl carb on a 350? That could have been an error also. Maybe he used it on a circle track.
