You'd better get yourself a hell of a roll cage and subframe connectors, a 12 bolt rear, or a ford 9" and an allison transmission. Hell, while you're at it, forget the subframe connectors, get yourself a truck chasis. I think the late 70's C series had a chasis that'll work nicely, and give it a transfer case and another drive axle, throw some 30 inch tires on there, and get some insanely high gears. If you can't do all that, I'd say don't bother, cause that's the only way it'll be worth it.

yeah and if you have that much money to spend, then just put into a stroker motor and go faster then you could with that diesel.

Put a real diesel in, like a Detroit diesel or a Volvo diesel (if you want an import). Won't even need a transmission, just a big clutch and a 1:3 rear. lol

VolvoPower D16:
I-6, 5.67" bore x 6.5" stroke, 16:1 compression, SHOC 4 valves per cylinder
16 L turbocharged, up to 600HP @ 2200 RPM and 2,050 lb-ft of torque@ 1200 RPM

Detroit Diesel Series 60:
I-6, 5.17" bore x 6.61" stroke. 17:1 compression
14 L turbocharged, up to 516 HP @ 1800 RPM and 1,650 lb-ft of torque @1100 RPM

I think it would be a great idea. I would love to see it, my dad and I have discussed the same idea well in to a box of beer...

I was telling my dad about it lastnight and his eyes light up as ifI just bought him a Mackzimizer tool box loaded. He got all excited and was thinking out loud, kinda scary. It started with a "how 'bout an 18 wheeler motor..."
