Default cranks wont run correctly

Hello;

I am sorry sorry, I posted a question without fully knowing what I had. I found an 1986 Camaro z28, with cross fire fuel injection. I was told that the radiator was replaced due to an overheating issue, tunedup and the engine ran fine. The car has been parked for over 2 years, due to it running rough and cutting off while driving. So I am charging the battery today and going to fix this car. There are no code stored, due to dead battey for 2+ years. If anyone has had issue with smooth running and or cutting off with this year and make I am open to all idea's and troubleshooting you may have done.

Thank you

Are you sure it is crossfire injected? Unless someone changed it, the 86 Z only came with TPI and a 4bbl q-jet.

Are you sure it is an 86 then? Got pictures? I find that strange... Tuned port injection is what was in the corvettes 85-?, and crossfire injection in the 84 vettes, which was a horrible system.

Hello again,

Thanks for the info so far, what I found out is the engine cranks and spark is good... but no fuel. I held the valve open on the fuel rail on the Passenger side and had a friend crank it over, No fuel came out of the rail. All fuses are good in the fuse box. I dont know where the relays are for the fuel pump, I do Not hear the pump prime up when the key is turn on. I saw three 3, relays on the fire wall on the drivers side in the engine compartment, is one of them it? again no fuel pump noise from tank and no pressure at the rail.

Oh the classic story Boy meets car and falls in love, Then lets the car sit for years so the gas turns to varnish, Then when he finally get back to her he trys to start her but she will not fire. Another victim of Sludge pump. A pump clogged with bad gas. Its a sad tale that could have been avoided by a small bottle of gas additive.

This story could have a happy ending. Drain all that foul gas pull the tank replace that clogged and now overheated pump. Put her all back togetheradd some nice high test and some fuel injection clear and all will be right again!

BTW take a few pictures including the engine. Post them here. I have worked on a lot of injected 86's and they where all TPI. I have only seen the crossfire in 84's. Those84's where pretty problematic while still under warranty I can not imagine they have gotten better with age.

If your not hearing the pump prime? when you turn the key on the fuse is blown! check the inside of the passenger fender just behind the battery and youll see a fuse it dead ends there and is enclosed! i bet ya 20 bucks thats your problem, same thing happened to mine and too me a day and a half to troubleshoot! it should be there? most third gen maros, especially wiring harnesses are the same, it will be mounted ( clipped ) to the inner fender right below where the hood rests on that passenger fender. hope that does it, im betting it will! good luck.
