Console Parts
Hello all;
I just got a 91 RS with an auto. It's in good shape generally, but that flexible corrigated plastic thing that goes on either side of the shift lever broke. Now there's a gaping hole when it's in park.
Is there a way I can just replace that part only, or do I have to replace the whole console?
Sorry, I'm not even sure what it's called. I think the technical term for it is a chingadero. I've looked through the supply places and can't find it.
I figured it would be a part that breaks often and would be readily available. So much for my figuring...
Thanks for the help!

RE: Console Parts
I am not sure if you are talking about the shifter boot, the part where the shifter boot mounts to or some other part of the center console. If it is a shifter boot, look on ebay. I just bought one a couple days ago for under $20 shipped but I am still waiting for it. If its any other part I would say go to a junk yard. I have been looking for cracked interior parts in my car that needs replacing and so far the junk yard has yet to disappoint. Hope that helps.

na, hes got an auto. that piece you are looking for should be fairly easy and cheap to replace. it might involve replaceing that whole part, but even so. shouldnt be toexpensive.

Mine broke just the other day! [&o]I have fixed another one before with a cutout from a black antifreeze bottle.

Anyway, I'm planning a trip to the junkyard this weekend. We have a lot of them nearby.
