Thanks for the website and the info. After talking to more and more ppl, it seems like my best bet would be to sell the car and buy another one thats already a V8. This way I don't have to worry about a lot of things.

Thanks for all of the advice and everything. I just have one last request before I make my decision...since I dont know much about this, would you guys be able to build me a list of everything that would needed to be changed for me to complete this project. If thats no to much to ask. I would like to shop around and price things out because I might be able to find a junked 3rd gen that I could use as a doner car.

Default Update

Not sure who was following on the other Thread but I was looking into getting a new/used crate engine. After finding out my GF uncle builds engines, i've decided to build a new engine. Its going to be around 410HP with either Holly or Edelbrock top end. They have those kits that come with just about everything (intake, heads, rods, pistons, carb... ect). I'm also planning on putting in a "rachet" shifter, as i believe its called, from TCI. I am working out all of the detail with him now. Since a few other ppl on the here has done these card drop-ins, I was wondering what parts, if any, could still be used from the v6 engine to the new v8. (oil pan, pumps, starters, ect...) I was already suggested to get a "doner" car if possible. Any and all information is appreached. I will get pictures of the car in its current condition soon.
Thanks gusy

here is one for you off summit. 355hp 405ftlbs zz4. its one of gm's most popular create motors. it 4000$ plus you have to get a couple other things such as a carb and ignition wires just little stuff and youll be good to go. this engine will last forever no matter how bad you beat it.

That zz4 is a good motor, however you can get some great motors completely ready to drop in, minus pulleys for not much more than that, that will offer more hp/torque along with some comparable warranties. For the zz4 you'll still need carb, wires, etc. If you are going to spend around 5K for the zz4, why not another 1,000 on something that is a lot better, and just as durable.
