Default changing a Fuel injected car to carbureted

i was looking around on here for information as to what i can do about the fuel system for my car that im changing from Fuel injected v6 to a carbureted V8. some people said on here to get a Fuel pressure regulator if your going carbed. This may be a dumb question but if i get a fuel pressure regulator, will that decrease the amount of horsepower and gas milege in my car, or should i put in a gas tank from a carbed 3rd gen camaro and a mechanical fuel pump with a new fuel line? any help is aprreciated

Default RE: changing a Fuel injected car to carbureted

first of all if your going to use the existing tank and fuel pump you will have to get a return style regulator. a standard fuel regulator will not work. carbed fuel pressure is around 5 psi fuel injection is around 50. the right way would be to put another tank and mechanical pump, but it is also the hard way. to remove the tank on a 3 gen you have to drop the exhaust as well as the back rearend support and jack the body til the rear tires are just leaving the ground. can be a pain in the ****. the easier softer way is to use a return style regualtor that will work just as good as long as you don't over pressure the carb.
