Default cat removal

How do I remove the cat converter and not have the check engine lite come on? Isnt there some thing to plug the senso into so that the engine operates at peak performance?

New at this. I mainly mess with diesels. Its a 91 z28

the car is not OBD II, so removing the cat will not throw a code. anything older than '96 should not throw a code as they typicly dont have a cat efficiency o2 sensor. now some vehicles do have an 02 sensor post cat, but depends on the manufacturer if it will throw a code. my 95 blazer is OBD II compliant, but didnt throw a code when i straight piped the cat

Right, removing the cat won't throw a code.

Also removing the Cat will give you 50 extra Horsepower and make your car sound like it has a big block motor. With these results I wonder why GM installed them??

To make the exhaust smell bad, and to make your front seat passenger uncomfortable with a hot and cramped floor.

no it isnt. the results of cutting the cat off arent much different then just putting a new cat on. now adays cats have virtually no restriction

i was going to buy a magnaflow high flow cat instead of just cutting off the stock one. my friend also says these days cats are pretty high flow anyway. should i go with the magnaflow or cut it off? plus do emissions laws require a cat? i live in VA...
