First of I am stupid when it comes to cars, and i would like yo know how to check if my cat is plugged? Thanks

The recommended way is to insert a pressure gage in the exaust pipe in the engine side of the cat and compare with the pressure on the exit side of the cat. If it is really plugged off, tha car may be able to run OK at low speed but choke on itself at high speed, only to start runnig OK once it loses enough speed, and repeats the cycle.

its really a good idea to change it anyway. for the 90 bucks, i would just change it. it may possibly be the stock cat, which is a terrible design

whats the point in gutting the thing? if you ever want to pass inspection, you need to have it working. theres no fun in having a camaro with huge REJECTED sticker, trust me....

Another quick way of checking it is with a high temp gauge the pipe coming out of the engine sould not be as hot as the pipe coming out of the cat

well what i do on my FORD i run straight pipes with glasspacks and no cats it sounds insane you should just call it a day and take it out
