Having a problem with my 89 iroc z. Just started trying to use the AC and I'm having a problem where my car does not want to stay running with AC on. If I just turn it on it stays idling fine, but if I hit the gas then let off the gas it bogs down and dies. (Idle drops too much.)

Any idea where I should begin looking? I'm assuming there's something from the compressor to the ECM that tells it to increase idle speed when the AC is on, but other then that not sure what else to check.

AC runs beautifully though.

 

Clean or replace the IAC valve and reset the idle to 650 RPM, did that last year and it worked for me. Now I can run the A/C and no stalling.

 

Hrm. Ok. Sounds like something I should do anyway since VERY rarely my car will just stop idling. Does idle a bit lower than I'd like too. Thank you black I will try that this week.
