No need to remove the rear completely. Unbolt the lower shock mounts, panhard rod and let her drop down a bit. You dont even need to disconect the brake line. Just gotta jack it it really high. And ya gotta let the exhaust down. That would be a good time for a cat back system.

Well, I've pretty much confirmed that my tank is full of what used to be gasoline. Whatever is in there has solidified and it looks like I'm in for quite a bit of work in removing the tank and cleaning out the fuel lines. If I had known that fuel could do this I would have taken some preventative measures. Let this be a lesson for all who are thinking of storing their cars for long periods of time.

Yep. Next time, get some stabilizer, and run the car for 15 minutes. You might wanna just pick up another tank from a local parts yard, since they're required in most states to drain the tanks before bringing them in. would be alot easier to clean an empty tank than the one you've got. Plus, if it's a pull your own joint, you'll get some experience dropping the rear, too.

i would just syphon out the old gas, cuz its five years old. the fuel itself could have started to break down. especially if its regular unleaded. put some new gas in the tank, perferably premium, and some fuel treatment. thats only if your fuel pressure is good and everything else is working properly in your fuel system. also put some fuel treatment in it and injector cleaner through it just as a precousionary measure. let me kno if that doesnt work. you might have to replace your fuel tank

We already established that the tank needs to be dropped full, and likely replaced, as the gas is already turned to gel, and will not syphon out. There's also a good chance the fuel lines will need to be replaced. Might wanna try reading the whole thread next time, Mongo, though the advice is definately apreciated, however late it may have been.
