Default Can true dual exhaust be done?

Has anyone installed a true dual exhaust system eliminating the catback? Does anyone have any pics of a true custom system? I have looked at some on the oval exhaust tubing. Anyone had any luck with that? Thx.

while i have never attempted this. i looked at some picsfrom a local guy. He installs custom exhaust work. and he did a true dual on a 87 IROC. He used 2" round pipeing though and managed to get them both tucked up in the drive shaft tunnel . Looks kinda sloppy but it works.

i would imagine that useing a oval style would work out better, but keep up snug against the floorboard for clearance. probably have better flow with that as well rather than all the twists and bends involved with makeing the other method i mentioned work.

they're old pics. i have high flow cats on it now. but it requires 2 1/2" coil spacers, and there still isnt a lot of clearance. duals arent worth it on these cars. trust me. this setup cost over a grand and a year later i still have problems. i recently hit a frost heave and it ripped off my pipes from the headers back. needed to replace all the crap that you see. the undercarrige and engine is a little dirty cuz i didnt get around to cleaning it. but like i said, the pics are old. like from last summer. if you wanna do this ill tell ya everything you need to know.

when i had my exhaust done i had planned to have true dual, it was all planned out with 2" pipes. the trick was it wouldn't have room for CATs and i never planned on any mufflers (but im sure you could work that out no problem) it would have easily followed the path im using now, but instead i just went with 3" with custom Y-pipe a cat and Flowmaster muff. ($700).... and im about to redo it as soon as i get new headers because its not loud enough for me and i cant pass emissions anyways

There is a dual cat set up. And I supose if a person wanted instead of the two cats going into one pipe they could squeeze two in place and use two small mufflers. The 82-84 exhaust had two small mufflers hooked together.

i have always heard that the best way to run the exhaust is 3" all the way from the y pipe to the *** of the car. you can still run the factory position of the exhaust. hence watching out for frost mounds

I put a whole new straight system on my '81 at Midus. Just told them what I wanted and they did it.

i have also heard that the duel on our third gens don't even give you that much of a performance gain so you'd probly be better off running a 3" flowmaster cat back i think honestly it sounds great atleast for an everyday driver. or if you really want it louder go with a glass back and y it out in the back.
