Default Cams

I got an 85 rs. 305, carb. There is a constant knocking that gets louder when i drive it. I'm guessing it's one of the cams because i had my timing way too high for a long time. I was wondering if there was an easy way to tell or do i have to do a complete tear down. And if it is my cam how hard would it be to fix.

the small block chevy has 1 cam. and your cam wouldnt be making that sound. check your rockers, valves, check your entire valve train.

excessive timing will cause detonation, which is hard on ur internals. u may have a rod knocking

Lots of people are doing that now, no need for it if people follow the posting tips.

Sounds l i k e a rod knock, if it is noticeable enough.
