Buying 3rd Gen Camaro - What To Look For?
I'm Canadian, and so's my car. Kilometers are par for the course
Although, the cars are a bit more common around here; I've seen at least 20 just in the city in the past year.
As far as the car you posted, it looks great from the pictures. Go have a look, see what you think, you'll have to make up your own mind as to whether it's worth the money or not.

I will be going to have a look at the car - hopefully next week, but any insight I can get before I get there will be useful - the car is 3000kms away.
Camaros are fairly rare in Australia, I would be lucky to see 5 a year on the street (outside of car shows). I have seen more Ferrari's and Lamborghini's in the past year than I have seen Camaros - actually I drove more Ferraris in one day than I have seen Camaros in the last year....
Here are a couple of pics of the car I am looking at. Dark blue Z28, 5 speed (which I think is a pretty rare combination), and looks to be in pretty good condition.
Hopefully next weekend I will be able to do the 3000km trek to check the car out, and take delivery soon afterwards.

Looks good, but damn. I've never seen a right-hand drive Camaro before. That's weird :/
Hope you enjoy it anyways, you planning on making it faster or keeping it all original?

I will be doing a few things to it. 165HP for a 305ci V8 is pathetic, so I need to fix that. My old car was an LS1 powered Holden Commodore making 520hp and running 11s on street tyres.
After doing a little research, I found that there was 192000 Camaros made in 1986, about 88000 or so Z28's, only 30000 manuals (all up), and only 9900 in dark blue.
So I wonder how rare the combination of a 1986 dark blue 5 speed Z28 is....
I spoke to the owner today and agreed to purchase the car as long as there is nothing wrong that he hasn't told me about. I am heading over to look at the car and do the paperwork next weekend.
Here is a pic:

I am really excited about getting it, I have been looking for one of these cars for a while.

It has been brought to my attention that this Z28 doesn't have the gold/silver lower body colour that a Z28 would typically have - not that it really matters, I think it looks better this way. The owner doesn't think it has been repainted, but I guess it may have been before he got it - the pinstriping on the bonnet may have been added then too.
It seems to have all the features of an IROC but missing the 16" wheels and IROC decals.... interesting. I am trying to get hold of the RPO codes to get more details on what it came with.

Thought the add you posted, like at the bottom, said its not an IROC but a Z28. That the IROC posting was a mistake. Pretty sure I read that on the add somewhere. Regardless its a damn good looking car.
Yes, the site did not have a separate listing for 1986 Z28 so he posted as an IROC and mentioned in the ad that it is not an IROC, but a Z28 (happens alot on that site - a specific model isn't listed so people post as a similar model and clarify in the text).
Personally I think that the lower stripe looks a bit tacky, so I am glad it isn't there. Looking at some of the other pics, all the door jams, sills etc have what looks to be the original dark blue paint (i.e. doesn't look new at all, looks factory), so I am not sure if the car has been repainted or not.
As I said though, it doesn't matter, just curious. I can't wait to get it into my garage.
