At 16 I got my 89 5.7/700r4 IrocZ...loved it, still not enough power for me, im swapping out the 5.7TPI for a well built 400sbc with spray. Some people have different definitions of 'fast' or 'enough power'. I wouldnt get a 305...youll be a helluva lot happier with a 5.7

Mine was black on grey 5.7TPI/700r4 IrocZ, 16" iroc wheels, flawless interior, flawless body, the paint could of used some help in a few spots, the motor ran great, and had 97xxx miles on it. I picked it up for 1500 bucks. But one thing ive noticed is the price varies a lot in your location. 3rd gens are pretty plentiful here so they dont demand a big price tag.
