Bogging issue when coming to a stop
Hi my name is Kyle and I drive an 89 RS with the 2.8l v6 with an auto tranny. The problem I am having is when the car warms up above 100 degrees and I come up to a stop sign or I go to back up, my car will shutter real bad and some times shut off. I then put it in park and start it again and it fires right up. I don't know what the problem is. I was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue or heard of someone having this issue. Oh also it only happens every once and a while. And sometimes it will do it twice in a row, like going from stop sign to stop sign. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!!!
since you mentioned it happens in reverse, it maybe your trans cooler lines are plugged, or your pump is going bad. Try coasting to a stop in neutral, then drive, then neutral to see if there is a definate pattern.
Ok. We rebuilt the trans before it was put in the car. Put a new convertor in it also so I don't know what it could be either. We checked pressures when it was put in and they were all fine. But that was a year and a half ago. I don't know if anything could go bad that soon.
It was the stock 700r4 that we rebuilt. New everything in it. That's why I don't think it could be a transmition problem. My dad doesn't think that's the problem either. It's real hard to diagnose because it only happens every once and a while.
It might not be that either, its just that stalling or bogging in reverse is a telltale symptom of a trans problem. It could be an engine issue, like vacuum, or sensor. Any codes that you know of, or have you checked for that recently?
