bigblock swap/tall deck in a third gen

while its out, you may want to cut out and brace the inner fenders so you can have access to spark plugs. you may also need some spring spacers unless you go with aluminum heads and other lighter componants. doe you have subframe connectors? wonder bar? crossmember braces? stronger rear? what trans? big enough radiator/fan combo?

yeah i have a 4 core radiator and im going to custom make a fan shroud.. i have before on other projects..sub frame ties...the rear is a stock housing with new diff and axles..the trans is a borgwarner..and i made a trans crossmember out of a 80 t/a cross member cause its actual tube and not stamped steal..y would i need to cut the inner finders bigblock plugs r easier to get to? and i made a blower motor box from sheet metal thats way smaller than oem with the ac deleted way before the bbc idea..and what do u mean by wonder bar? sway bar? i got the biggest one i could find out of the junkyard from a 89 gta transam

the wonder bar is a brace that helps tie front frame rails together. considering the extra weight and power, it wouldnt be a bad idea. i take it you are using a clutch or flex fan. have you considered using electric fans? as for the plugs, every blig block swapped 3rd gen has had holes cut out with a hole saw to get to the spark plugs. they were 454 engines though, im not sure how much of a difference there is between the 427.
here are some parts to take a look at as well that may aid you http://www.spohn.net/shop/1982-1992-GM-F-Body/Chassis/

icic..ill look into it..do u know if the firewall will clear the distributor..and i was gonna use a flex fan cause ive had problems with electric not pulling enough air and with temp switches failing and i would rather not be worried about it for long trips..im goin to attempt to make a trip down 66 to cali to c my dad..with my car done..for now its more of a cruiser..

im not sure about firewall clearence. you could get a small cap, and if needed, reshape the fire wall. to me, i would think it would be easier and faster to use electric fans with their own stand alone temp switches. with the big block, i would look for a dual fan setup pulling at least 4000 cfm

ok so i have been realy looking at alot of pics of big block third gen cars..and they use hooker 2 piece headers for exhaust..custom trans crossmember for strength..distributor cap to clear the fire wall the wall needs dented...ur brake booster will clear the valve covers..the cars that had manual brakes had to low vac because of cam..the radiator and everything fits but u need short water pump.if long water pump used cut core support a little n push back radiator.can use manual fan or electric..electric fans work best if one fan on front of radiator and the back..ac condenser box needs to be cut to clear for heads...

yeah ive started i need got to finish fabbing up the trans crossmember cause i didnt like the one i made befor im making this one from c channel and square tubeing..and just need to save and get headers
