My tach reads about right at idle but the higher the rpms are the father off it is. I know my problem is that my 1992 rs was a 3.1 v6 and now i converted it to a carbed 350. It sounds like this is also your issue. I think there are ways to correct it by changing resistors but I just bought an aftermarket tach. Hope this helps you out!

It's very common among the 90-92 models. Even my 91 read double, and a used replacement was the same, so I just left it and adjusted in my head.
