air conditioning problem
My 1991 camaro RS 5.0 has been converted over to R134A but when i bought the car the a/c wasnt running. leak in the hoses and compressor. It would blow hot out of the vents. After a while nothing would come out of the vents except for the top one... got new hoses and a new compressor. installed it, vacuumed it, and tried to put it refrigerant. after two it would accept any more and wasnt blowing cold. vents still dont work and i cant find out the problem... no leaks and holds the vacuum. any suggestions???
thanks,
Drew

It's called the temperature blend door and they are either vacuum controlled, manually or electrically controlled. If I was there I would help you out because my truck had similar issues and it was vacuumed controlled. If you added refrigerant and your cooling lines are still not cool to the touch you might have to change the expansion valve. That happened to a Mopar V8 I had. I added refrigerant, compressor turned on but no cool. Good luck and I hope some others can elaborate a little better than I did.

is it only blowing out of the defrost vent? that could be an issue inside the control panel itself. they are set to default to the defrost position in an event you lose control of the hvac system (i.e. something breaks or is disconnected). it could also just be the blend door. another question, is the compressor turning on at all? you can add too much refrigerant and the compressor wont turn on at all
