Ok so i was wonderin what kind of rear end i have. 305 automatic with OD. I notice when i do a brake stall or punch it off a light i have a one wheel wonder. but if i punch it in a curve i can get it side ways. is it one wheel or two? an if it is one wheel what car or truck would be a good dooner for a two wheel beast...lol. and does any one know the HP an TQ ratin's for the 305.

 

I had a boss that told me "drop a gear and punch it" So I did and got side ways and all other directions in my Camaro when I had an open rear end.
You'll have to get another rear out of a 3rd gen F body for it to swap easy because of the trailing arm, coil spring, torque arm mounts. I am not sure but I think a 4rth gen will work also. Or just install a limited slip carrier.

You have a 10-bolt 2:73 gears and a open rear (not a limited slip). Standard set up for a 305 TBI RS with a 700R4 auto.

 

F body would be Camaro or Firebird.

 

2:73...damn! i had a LS1 in my 98 S-10 with 4:10 in the rear that thing was a dream. so what would be a good donor with a higher rear end ratio. somethin bolt in wise? yr make an modle

 

Get one out of a Monte Carlo SS, if you can. From what I understand, they're mostly posi, and have much better ratios than a 91 F-Body.

 

if your buying used ... get the carrier and gears from an s-10. less likely to be have been abused. Sick

 

dont care to much bout the posi issue, it would be a + but i would rather have a cheap easy swap with higher ratio like 370 ish or 4 ish lol
