Default 91 rs air bag light

My sons 91 RS failed inspection. Reason -air bag light. We located and cleaned sensor connectors and ensured proper grounding. I'm unable to find a camaro air bag computer reset process. Jumping dia connector pin "k" to ground we're able to read the AB error codes (I have several that I think just need to be cleared). The only chevy AB info I've been able to find was on a "vet" site. Their procdeure to clear the AB computer has been unsucessful. I believe the vet computers are simular but different. Their computers flash the error 3x's before advancing to the next error (simular to the ECM). Our AB computer flashes the code only once before advancing. Anyway the vet folks air bag process is (jump "k" to grnd, turn key to accessory, leave shorted for 3sec, remove short for 3 sec, replace short for 3 sec, remove for 10sec and turn key off). If nessessary I'll brake down and buy a OBD scanner (I've whated one for years but I'm too cheap) Any help is appreciated. Have a blessed day

If you get a scanner make sure it can handle air bags. Most affordable ones do not.

On 3rd Gen ECMs you can clear codes or warning ligths by diconnecting the battery for two/three minutes. If that dose not work there is a problem with that system and most DIY people do not have the equipment or knowhow to correct it. Now it is going to cost you money

If time is against you or if it's going to cost a lot to fix, remove light bulb, get car tested, put bulb back in, then find the problem at your leisure. The hardest part is you have to pull your gauge cluster out to access the bulbs.

I'm new to the forum but I can tell when I revieve feedback from a wise man. Thats exactly what I did last night. I'll get rid of the rejection sticker, get it on the road then complete the service. It's give me time evaluate my choices and compair cost. I also "rebuilt" the instrument panel bulbs w/194's. Then I had to disassemble and reassemble the head light switch after I pulled the shaft out trying to get the **** off. (thanks state inspection man for another fun night). A top end scanner to do the AB codes looks like $300.00 and up. If there is a way to diag. and reset these codes manually I'll post that others may benefit. Agreed it's not for every DIY'er but but for mechanics and technical folks it's not rocket science if you have access to documentation. Thanks to all
