Default 85 - Need some help plz!

Recently got myself an 85 rs. they replaced the transmission, has 700r4 and i am having a couple of problems with it.

1. The shifter never is in the right position, i have to bring it back then pop it forward to get into drive, also, it doesn't click for reverse and you have to go to at least neutral to get into park, and its not fully engaged. anything i can do? i am thinking it has to do with the shifter itself.

2. The speedometer is off, at 25 it reads about 28-30. at 45 it reads about 50-52. at 65 it reads about 82-85. What is going on? is there anything i can do to fix this?

Just take the shifter plate off, and start fussinf with it. check the linkage cable and adjust it if possible. clean up the whole unit real good. add some wd-40 if you want. Adjust, Adjust, Adjust! Then take it for a spin. See what happens.

1) Your shift linkage is out of adjustment.
2) The trans that is now in your car must have come from another car with a different rear axle ratio than what your car has. You need to change the "driven" speedo gear on the trans to the correct one to match your rear gear ratio.

I thought the RS model wasn't brought back until 1989? I may be wrong about this though.
