Well I wouldn't call them rare, but I wouldn't call them common. A nice G80 equipped Camaro isn't the easiest to come by.

ok got more info on the engine, it is a 350 bored 40 over to make it a 355 cid, it has mallory steel crank, mallory pop up pistons , and a mallory (stage two ) cam with 1.92 duration and 1.99 lift. the heads are big block x heads ,
and i found out what happened with the piston slap his brother told me that he ( as in the person im building this up with) didn't breakin the motor to when he should have before he raced it so that is solved just need to replace the piston and everything

Um....your cam specs make no sense, big block heads do not fit on a small block and you will have to do a complete rebuild if it was run so hard it has piston slap, broke in or not.
It will have to be rebored and larger pistons installed if the block is still good being as it is 0.40 over already.

First of all, as far as I know, Mallory does not make engine components. They pretty much stick to ignition. Second, the cam specs make absolutely no sense. Third, "pop up pistons" means nothing in the racing world. Fourth, big block heads would not fit a small block, and X means nothing.

Are you sure this guy built the motor? He sure sounds like he knows next to nothing...

You missed one Jr. A 350, .040 over is a hair under 357 c.i. .030 will give you a 355.
All of these points are something that an engine builder should know.
It almost sounds like someones leg is getting pulled!!! Maybe ours?
