ok so when i am driving the car nicely its ok. when i go to nail it it stutters, then will catch itself and pull ok. im wondering what would cause this kind of problem? it seems like its a low end stutter if im moving faster it wont happen as bad. let me know what you guys think, it is a carbed motor. thanks very much

What kind of carb? Did you just put it on, had it for a while, just started doing this, always been doing it????
If it's momentary like the engine falls on it's face, then picks back up, that's a stumble. It could be....
The float level being too low and starving out, or being too high and flooding out.
The accelerator pump may not be working well, or giving too much of a shot.
Choke not opening fully.
A clogged fuel filter, is there one in the carb at the inlet line? Those are superfine and can get forgotten about until they plug up.

its been doing that since i got it, it came to me doing that. its a rochester carb and yes it has a filter there. once or twice it will actually open up and pull nicely though, but 99 percent of the time it has the stumble. ill change the filter and see what happens. the car did sit for a few years before i got a hold of it. thanks for the help ill let you know how it goes.
