Default '82 for sale?

OK, I've looked into buying another Camaro a couple times before and found another one that may be interesting. it's an '82 and is all original paint etc. but had the motor replaced two months ago (over-heated the stock motor). It has paint, etc. that make it look to be either a z28 or just a factory options car, the motor stalls because of a bad carb but the motor is pretty fresh. Body in GREAT shape, no rust etc. just needs new tires. I can probably get off with it for like $500 (they said they'd take the first good offer with and asking price of $1000) because they obviously don't know what they are doing... Whatcha guys think? I'd love a third gen....

Is it a Z28? Have the right bumper cover and ground effects? Should definatlly have a V8. If the body seems pretty sound and you could get it for $500 or so go for it. Fixing a stalling problem on that year of car should not be too hard. Maybe just a carb rebuild and proper adjustments.

That's exactly what I thought. I'm putting TPI on my truck and I'll have a spare carb and intake anyway. It may or may not be a Z28... it has the spoiler, dual exhaust, and the body stripes, but I'm not sure about the bumper. I can't read the markings on the back, but it doesn't appear to say Z28, was there a Berlinetta model then?

The front or rear bumper would not have the ground effects and the front bumper would have slots in it above the grilles. But the bumpers and stuff could be added to make a clone.
Look for a "P" as the 5th digit. A "S" would be the Berllineta

Ah, there we go, it's a Berlinetta then. It has the slots above the grill and no ground effects...

Well still not bad for $500if its a V8. The Z28 would have better suspension and I think looks better with the ground effects. But they could be changed to look like a Z28 and I think the 85 and up ground fx look better.

Well, I'm gonna take a look at it. The body supposedly doesn't have any rust on it, the only problems are the carburetor stalling and it needs new tires and speakers; the owners jsut haven't got a clue what to do about any of it. Like I said, the motor was put in some time in September and they haven't driven it much since then because of the stalling.... If they'll tkae my $500 offer than I'm gonna jump on it, I've always loved the third gens....
