Default 4 bolt vs 2 bolt???

Sorry to post right on top of my other, but this has nothing to do with mylast post.................

I just installed a 2 bolt 350. My old 350 was a 4 bolt main, and when I say that I got rid of it people look at me like Im crazy. Why do people act like a 2 bolt is a worthless POS to be avoided at all costs?

The 4 bolt main ran a steel crank. Thus it will take more punishment than the 2 bolt main. More punishment I mean, more RPM's. A 4 bolt main is the ticket, 2 bolts are just fine also.

In most cases it is a Nodular Iron Casting and not a forged steel one.

Oh wow ROFLMAO!! But wait Mike i think some of them were made of "POOP" but they called them (fords) yuck, spits, coughs, gags. Ok did,nt you mean thast most 4 bolt cranks were cast! as too the 2 bolts forged, basically the advantage of the 4 bolt over the two, was so the crank wont "walkout" or spunout the endcaps had 4 bolts on those main bearings. But made of poop, i,ve heard of recycling or not wasting are natural products, but hey autoparts made of waste, wow are we intelligent or what.

A 2 bolt main block is commonly rated for 350 to 400 hp properly prepaired a 4 bolt is rated to 400 to 450 maybe more. The main issue that comes into play is cap walk somewhat caused dy the hamonics and stress on the engine the 4 bolt caps spread this stress out and give more contact area of the cap to the block. One advantage of the two bolt block is that you can install splayed 4 bolt caps on them making them stronger than the standard 4 bolt although there is a question of cost related to this. As far as cranks go I know guys who are pushing well over 400 hp on a factory cast crank, If I was looking for anything beyond the 400 hp mark at the prices you can buy a scat or an eagle forged crank for now I wouldnt even mess with the factory forged crank by the time you buy it have it crack checked and find a good one have it turned and polished you end up wasting time and money and have a inferior crank at least.... that was my experience.

Well at least some one was able to notice I was joking.
I would always joke around with guys that call them steel intead of forged. Like when people would mention a tire rotation. I say "don't they rotate as your going down the road?"
Please, I don't need an explaination on tire rotation.

to be honest scottd, the 4 bolt main is a stronger block, stock for stock, however, you throw some main studs at the 2 bolt, and you will have no issues with your main caps deciding to fly south. if your not looking to juice it up too much, the stock 2 bolt will be fine.
