4.3 swap?
I thought about puttin this in V-6 but i want everyones opinion. Its not really somethin im ever gonna do, but i saw an add in the traidin paper about a 4.3 for a camaro, I know their never was such a thing but that made me wonder if anyones ever done it befor? Just by thinking about it i know it would be more work then what its really worth. But what are everyones thoughts on it?

The 4.3 bolts up the same, motor mount and bellhousing wise, as the v8 does. So it would require the same amount of work to do get it in. At that point you might as well go with an 8.
I've done a 4.3 conversion once....into a Suzuki Samurai. It performed OK!

the 4.3 is too clumsy of an engine to be used for sport use. its meant more for grunt applications like a light duty truck. the 3.8 v6 is much better for sport as it has a smoother power band, more hp, and possibly just as much torque. the 3.8 is also much lighter, which will aid in handling and general performance

...And I smoked a crap load of Samurais with mine!! How can you call it clumsy, mine wasn't. All the 4.3 is, is a small block 350 with two cylinders missing. Bore & stroke specs are identical between them. If you have an engine that's built for "grunt", then gear the rearend accordingly.

its just my opinon of it. i know every detail on the engine, its just when it comes to having something sporty, i would prefer the 3.8 over the 4.3. the 4.3 has almost no power until it reaches 3k (vtec kicked in HA), but from there on out it screams. i just dont think its well suited though to be used for something sporty.

Mine wasn't a "right out of the truck" 4.3. I rebuilt it fairly normal though, .030 over, 4 barrel carb. I had a body lift, 3" suspension, and 32" tires. It took my Sammy for a pretty good scoot!!

The 90's 4.3 list at around 180 HP? there is a reason its put in Vans and trucks. To get any real power out of it I think you have to put a lot of work into the heads.
There was a 4.3 in a 3rd Gen about 5 miles from my house. I was curious so I stopped in. He had it on craigs list for $1100. He was down to $700 before I left. I never mentioned price. It was on craigs list a long time. I assume it was worth $700 just in parts. I was temped but I just had to many project already.
