Default 383 help

Hey guys, i am building a 383, and I am looking for around 450 hp. Does anyone know a good head, cam, intake combo? Also should the heads be 58, 64 or 76 cc, i know that the 58cc will make more compression but with a 383 not sure what i need to use. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Cam: Contact Comp Cams with your engine and vehicle specs, and your project intentions. They can recommend a cam or custom grind one for you.

Just using these parts won't get you to 450hp, however they will support that much power.

Ditto on Jr. Mechanic....

If you don't know what parts to use, so that they work together, you're never going to get to where you want to be. You'll need quality stuff that is made for what you want to get out of that motor. Just throwing a summit catalog at it is going to end up giving you a big headache without the headrush you wanted.

I've got Desktop Dyno 2003 if you want some numbers run for fun. I know it doesn't give a hard or totally accurate rating as compared to real life, but it helps to see how different combinations change the outcome.
How much you want to spend is also an issue. My engine has some pretty well worked over factory iron heads. With all my build specs factored in, h.p. rating comes to 464, and considering how it's built and how it runs, I think it's pretty damn close.
Plugging a set of AFR aluminum heads into DD gave me the best results with jumping it over the 500 horsey mark. Hmmm....more h.p. and less weight in the nose, guess what's on my shopping list?
There are a lot of factors to consider for calculating your numbers such as dome of the piston, block deck height, head gasket thickness, heads, cam profile, etc. Hitting 450 h.p. isn't hard to do. But you need to decide what your budget is, and work realistically from there.
