355 c.i. headers onto a 305?
hey my friend just told me hed sell me aftermarket headers off his chevelle. its got a small block 355. i was just curious of those would fit my 1984 305. im pretty sure all the chevy small block parts are interchangeable for the most part right? just wondering before i went and spent money on them and found out they dont fit after. any help would be great. thanks
o yea and also....this kid from my school has a 94 v6 5 speed and he thinks his "new v6" can beat my "tired v8." both cars are completely stock except i have a 2.5 inch cat-back straight pipe right now cause my old exaust kinda fell off...haha. oops. im pretty sure i can take him but what do u guys think?
and should i leave the straight pipe and put an actual exaust on? idk if the straight pipes might hurt the performance or not somehow.

I'd go ahead and get a new exhaust on that, as the lack of some backpressure could have an adverse effect on the way the engine runs. Go bigger than 2.5, though. No bigger than 3.5 or 4 at the very most for a stock engine, and get yourself a decent turbo exhaust that's in the price range. Besides, well made systems sound better than straight pipe on most cars.
im not sure if those headers off an old chevelle would work or not. its a really tight fit down there around the suspension. But if im not mistaken, they are pretty similar. But im not sure, so check all that out before you buy them
the headers will BOLT UP to the 305 heads. the heads are identical, main difference from a 305 head to a 350 head is the combustion chamber. But yes the headers will BOLT up to the 305 heads. now like 350rs was sayin they might not fit in the engine compartment.
