Is this 350 worth buying
I want to drop in a 350 in my car. I found this one for sale. I don't know much about the engine market. Do you think the price is fair?
Here's the specs on it
2 bolt main 350 out of a 77 el camino.
LT1 flat top pistons
Comp cams 'xtreme energy' hydraulic flat tappet cam
Lift: .507'/.510'
Duration: 284°/296°
RPM Range: 2300-6500
Wieand Xcelerator single plane intake manifold
2000-6800 RPM Range
Stock 305 heads out of a 94 chevy 1500
New main and rod bearings, crank turned .020 under, windage tray, new oil pump, OEM 8" dampner, double roller timing chain, headers (that will fit my car), stock HEI distributor, Taylor plug wires, AC delco valve covers and air cleaner, valvetrain has stock rocker arms and pushrods.
Apparently it has been started twice with good oil pressure.
He wants 1500 for the whole package. I still plan on talking him down.
It looks like the cam and intake match up fairly well, but I don't know if the 305 heads are made to flow at the 2000-6800 RPM range that the intake and cam run at.

RE: Is this 350 worth buying
I would stay away from it. First of all, its a 2 bolt main. Not the best foundation for a high HP motor. When you get lots of power on a 2 bolt main, then start turning the high RPM's, you can bet that the crank will start to float, not good. Also since you cannot be sure on how well it was built, and it has only been started twice, you are best off staying away. You could build your own 4 bolt 350 for around that much. If that isnt your thing, then I would look into this:
