327 posi any good???

RE: 327 posi any good???
I think you should do a lot more research about rear axle gear changes & gear ratios. First, the 3:27 limited slip is a 9-bolt rear and the complete assembly would work. But none of the internal parts are interchangeable. Second, A 4th gen assembly would also work, but as stated it is 4" wider overall. No 4th gen car came stock wwith a 3:73 ratio only 2:73. So you need more info on this one. Third, only 3rd & 4th gen assemblies will work.
Final advice a gear change is NOT a normal DIY type installation.
Again you need to do more research about what your car has now and the options for a change before asking question "327 posi any good".

I Have 3.08 and i want to buy a fully assembled 373 from a third gen or whatever will work. The mechanics will do the rest.

Your options for gear ratios from 3rd gen models are:
9-bolt___ 2:77, 3:27 & 3:45
10-bolt___2:73, 3:08, 3:23, 3:42 and a few 3:73
Again not all of these came with RPO G80 (limited slip rear) or to you a posi......Just so you can try to spin the rear tires.

RE: 327 posi any good???
Option 1
Step 1) cruise Ebay fora set of 3.73's
Step 2) Call summit for adapter ring and install kit. (I think you need the ring when going from your gears to 3.73, but I may be wrong, I did, but i went from 2.77's to 3.73...)
Step 3) Take it to local shop. Have them Install.
OR, Option 2...
Find complete 3rd Gen rear end (Axle assy) and do the swap yourself. A rear end swap is very simple but a bit labor intensive. Hardest part is unbolting it all. Good luck finding a 3.73 complete rear end. For what your gonna pay, option 1 may be cheaper.
And if you ever say "My tires would look cool sticking 2 inches outside of the wheel well' again, we will hunt you down, take your car and give you a 94 honda civic as trade. You will be forced to wear your hat sideways and say things like "yo dawg" and "why you be hating up on my ride?"

Umm, thanks for info and all, but if you think that wheels coming 2" out of the wheel well, is a ricer thing to say, then good for you, but in my opinion i think it makes the car look badass. Everyone has differnt likes in there car designs and one of mine is that i think it makes the car look better when the wheels stick out a bit, ive seen some very nice cars with wheels like that... So dont call me a ricer. I hate those "disposible peices of ****"... thats whyi bought a chevy.
