305 TPI or 305 TBI or neither???
I would like to hear something from the experienced or the pros. Im 18 and have a 89 iroc (305 TPI) i have 2 of the motors, but one of them i spun a main bearing and it needs a new crank. So, heres the plan, I would like to rebuild the old one. Some ideas have been said to me, and i would like to know a better setup which would be more effective (more HP than rustangs) maybe like 300+HP..any advice would be greatly appreciated
Yeah man, alot easier to get those numbers out of a 350 than a 305. What are you running right now, tbi or tpi? Correct me if im wrong but its quite a bit of hassle and money to convert from tbi to tpi, fuel pump, ecm, injectors, intake etc.
From my personal experience go with a crate 350, get rid of the TPI or TBI whatever you have, put on a 600 to 650 CFM edelbrock carb on. Thats what i did and i got a big increase in power from the old 305 that was in it. Also if you dont use it take off the a/c unit and compressor and the smog pump and that frees up some ponys.
