I got a 305 out of a 83 camaro and was told it was a 350 but I ran the number and its a 305 all i really want to know is whats the difference is because when i looked up a crank on summit they said the crank is for both the 305 and the 350. can anyone help me thanks.

Are you asking about the similarities of the canks for a 305 vs 350, or the differences of a 305 vs 350?
I would bet Summit knows what crank goes in a 305 and a 350. If they say it's the same then believe it. They aren't A-Zone or Failvance.
From what Iv'e read the flexplate bolts don't line up, so if you replace the flexplate then the starter from the old flexplate might not work either. I assume because of the number of gear teeth.
The new crank should be balanced with the pistons and rods.

Simple, the bore sizes are different. The 350 has a 4" bore, 305 has a 3.736" bore. Both have a 3.48" stroke.
And no, you can't bore out your 305 block that much to make it a 350.
