Default 1988 iroc 5.0

I just bought a very sweet 88 iroc. This is my first sports car ever and it is nearly flawless. The only things not working are the temp gauge and the stereo. It appears to have an aftermarket exhaust, the cat looks new and everything looks to be at least 2 1/2" to even 3" from the cat back to the 1 in and 2 out muffler. Whatever it is under there it looks like a pro install and has a nice sound. I would like to add a little something performance wise without getting crazy. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

being an IROC, i assume it has TPI. Injectors, plugs and wires, you could do alot to a TPI really. Look in pretty much any performance parts mag and youll find stuff for the TPI. Jegs, Summit, places like that.

And welcome to the camaro family.

ooops. yes it is a 305 TPI automatic. I have seen cold air inductions and air foils to exhaust systems. The guy threw in some chip that he got from Ebay, it is a Pro Choice Performance module. He never put it on and I dont know what it is suppose to do. Any suggestions on hop ups will be appreciated. Thanks.

Forget the performance chip.

Unfortunately, you are severely handicapped with the TPI & having a 305 only makes it worse. Your main goal will be getting the TPI to breath better. A set of SLP Runners (or whoever else makes them) will help, pick up an air foil too. Get a shift kit along with a Corvette Servo & a B&M Megashifter, it'll make the car a blast to drive. Consider a set of rear gears, a 3.73 or 4.11 would be an excellent choice and really help get the car going. A set of headers will be an excellent idea also.

there's nothing wrong with a 305 because not everyone wants to race. the only thing wack is you.
and bosscat enjoy it, they're a ton of fun!

Theres nothign wrong with the 305. For starters, get some long tube headers and it sounds like you have a free flowing exhaust, verify it, if not replace that too. I dont know much about TPIs but the stock camaro exhaust is terrible for flow. Next I would say an aftermarket intake manifold and cold air intake would help bunches. And if you want to go further, heads and a cam are mandatory on an 80s sbc. The cams were so choked back for power because of fuel economy requirements and emissions, And the stock heads could definatley flow better.
