Hey! So, I recently got my 1st car running again too, 88 camaro 2.8 v6, after sitting at a shop for 9 years. All along someone said it may be the transmission, but finally someone who knew what they were talking about looked at it, and it wasn't getting any fuel. So, had a new fuel pump put in and normal tune-ups too...but one issue we can't figure out....and I've had this problem years ago, but I can't remember what it was...the fuel gauge is stuck at "Full", but we know the tank isn't full. Any thoughts??? Thanks.

If the gas gauge doesn't drop when the keyed power is turned off, the gauge is bad.

The tank is cleaned and treated. ive replaced fuel pump, tps, wires, plugs, cap, rotor.

Its either the MAF or a major vac leak. I know its some thing to do with air. Because every time i move the air intake it idles/runs fine. But if I slightly move it again it will run like crap again.

Gonna replace the MAF sensor this weekend.

Thanks for the ideas.

The gas guage may definitely be a possibility. Is there a way to test it before replacing it, just to make sure that is the problem. When we open the dashboard we can move the guage to empty and then it stays there or if we move it to full it stays there. So that may be the test! However, I just learned that a new sending unit was not part of the new fuel pump...so thinking that could be it too. Though, just happy the car is running again after sitting for 9 years...but need to get it to it's best! Thanks for your ideas!

Ok.... Ive now replaced the MAF as the MAF was for sure bad. Its alot better but still not right.

I cleaned the IAC and I am not sure if it its working anyway to test? Gonna buy a new one any way though.

The car is idling at 3800 but the engine doesnt like its that high. Anyway its still cutting out.

ive replaced the TPS but not sure on how to adjust it. I keep getting a reading of 4.96 on the blue wire and 5.06 on the grey wire.

just to confirm what setting should I set my multi meter to

Ah I am about to give up and sell the thing.... car starts fine with a little pressure on the pedal. but if i give it any gas it cuts out chokes and some times makes a POP sound before catching and running like ****.

When it idles it still idling very high cant find a vac leak... replace almost all the sensors. Where do I go next?

My buddie had an s-10 that did that exact same thing. Start it up and it run fine for about 2 minutes then it would start to miss and jerk on the road and backfire every now and then. I told him to take the computer out of his wrecked s-10 and PRESTO, tan perfect. If you can find a computer, try it. The couldnt cost that much for a 88.

I'll try it... Sounds simliar.. Only thing is this thing never runs fine.. It idles high and cant drive because if u give it any gas it chokes /pops and then sounds like **** lol.

I'll see if i can find a computer.

Also is there a way to test the computer. Ive noticed I have no engine light on and when I pull clips to sensors maf, iac, tps no engine codes light up at all.

So could that be a sign of a bad computer? I mean when I turn the key to the on position I don't get any lights at all.. Also there is no way for me to adjust the TPS its staying at 4.96 volts even when throttle is closed.
