Default 1988 camaro fuel pump/sending unit

Hey,

I just bought a 1988 camaro 2.8 v6 for $500!! It doesnt run but I pretty sure I figured out the problem.

It wasnt getting any fuel.. I checked relays, tried jumping them and had no luck.

So I dropped the tank and the fuel pump was shot.. it looked like the last owner had a problem with it jimmy rigged it.

Just wanting to know would it be easier to buy the complete sending unit then install a fuel pump or buy each piece like fuel pump, strainer, pump pulsator?

Also any one where I could find the sending unit part?

Thanks for any help or advice.

Edit: What other year gas tanks and sending units are compatible.

Still needing a little advice..... I got the sending unit,hanger... The wires have been stripped from it. I need to know if its possiable to reattach one of the black ground wires to it?

I am kinda nervous with wiring in the gas tank.

If the gas gauge was working fine, and the sending unit isn't rotted away (outside), you don't need to replace it.
You can replace just the pump and bottom strainer.
What happened to the wires on the sending unit, were they cut off?

no the sending unit wire is there but there is a black ground wire attached to a metal tab thats on one of the lines. That black wire has been cut.

Ok, that black ground wire on the metal tab on the sending unit goes to body ground.
You can just run a separate ground wire from the tab to the body.
