1986 camaro, should i buy?
Hey forum,
im thatguyoverthere, and I'm looking for a bit more of a performance car for this summer. My jetta just cant cut it engine wise.
Anyways, I've found a 1986 camaro for $2000 close to me. Its got 68,000 miles, is grey and the body looks okay, but good for an 86. Its a 305 manual carbed version. The car also has Holley Carb, Edelbrock Intake, Hedman Headers, Flowmaster exh, Centerforce Clutch, and a nice box of speakers/etc in the hatch. It looks like a hurst shifter too. Then power windows, t tops. Does that sound okay? Because to me, that seems like a lot for $2000.
What could I expect for gas mileage with this car? And any predictions on horsepower and torque ratings for those upgrades?
thanks

third gens ar a pretty hot comodity right now so the price is probably fair. somewhere between 150 and 250 horsepower about the same for torque hard to nail it closer without knowing the car. as for gas mileage ... who cares it's a camaro lol. sick
Even a 5 spd manual transmissioned 305 with freer flowing(assuming thats what those upgrades are doing, the ones i listed) exhaust and intake parts will still get 13-15? ugh lol
I'm pretty set on getting it, its cheap, fun, fast, but the problem is sellin the jetta, if there is one thing those germans did right, its the handling on it.
Thanks for the reassurance though lol

theguyoverthere, i put 265 50r15 tires on the fronts, and 295 50r15's on the back. even for the fronts those a very wide. a thirs gen camaro will outhandle that jetta by far. im not saying this out of my *** neither, you get the right tires on there, thats all that matters. i jsut have cheap airshocks and normal length springs, and no fornt wheel drive car in my town could outhandle it. very wide and low cars youll be suprised.
well it is a 305 and a manual, i would say closer to 15 miles a gallon city and maybe closer to 18 highway.
