Sitting indoors or out?
First off after that long I'd pull the spark plugs and get some oil in the cylinders and let it soak in for a couple days then spin it over by hand to lube the rings.
All fluids will need to be flushed out and replaced including brake system , rubber parts would be advised to be replaced from belts and hoses to tires.
Check the date codes on the tires, even if they have good tread if they are 10 years old they're junk and unsafe.
I'd want to replace them and the rubber brake lines if nothing else, those two items are a safety issue.
Fresh gas and new filters after changing oil etc, then (with I expect with a new battery) see if she'll start.
If you get her running change the oil again after a few hours runtime .
Hopefully she's not rusted up inside,in or outdoors and climate where you are can make a big difference for a car sitting that long.
Good luck with it and keep us posted.

"You did say get it going" Not this will be a daily for a young driver. Those are two very different things. If you just want to safely drive the car around a bit to get a feel for it and decide what you are going to do with it see below.

6-8 years is not that long BUT the real question is how old everything before it was parked. If you have records showing new tires 9 years ago they could be fine for a while or the brakes system that was rebuilt 10 years ago it is probably fine. First a visual inspection of the brakes, make sure nothing it dripping or rusted too bad and that there is brake material on the shoes and pads. You would want to do a stomp test after the car started before you drove it. Thats when you have the car running and you put both feet on the brakes if you can and you grab the wheel and push as hard as possible. If your butt is in the seat you are doing it wrong. If the brakes do not fade and none of the wheels are tight after that you should be ok to drive it. Make sure you have the car parks somewhere that it is ok if it sits there for a while and brake fluid will not hurt and thing. On you first drive be carful the car may pull hard to one side when you brake. Slow speed and expect it to pull. If it still feels fine then take it up to 30 MPH and pump the brakes and watch to see if the steering wheel drift to the side. That would indicate and brake issue. If a car sits that long it common for them to get flat spots, they may come around after they warm up on the road but if they don't then they will need replaced. Of course after the first few miles check for cracking on the side walls.

If you can turn the motor over by hand, I would not be too worried about it. If the motor is not stuck you can probably grab the AC pully add some tension to the belt with the other hand and just turn it. As long as you can turn the large pulling at the bottom 360 degrees you good. This 85's 2.8s are small displacement low compression and the turnover easy. If it is a fight, then do as suggested above. That assumes she did not have the car stored somewhere with high humidity. If the rotors are heavy pitted with thick rust that would indicate storage in high humidity area.

BTW I don't know where you live but as long as the car is not a rust bucket with no floors left I would give a $1000 for it maybe more depending on the condition. You don't have to touch anything, I would preferer you did not.
