1982 Camaro w/ 2.5 Iron duke
OK,
Been looking into fixing my old 1982 Camaro that has a 2.5 iron duke engine and a 4 speed trans. Mainly as a more fuel efficient way to transport myself as the ol 350 only gets 15mpg avg. The 82 was my first car and has sat for about 7 years or so since the engine went bad on me. Planned on putting a v8 in it but other cars took more interest so it has sat.
Question is what 2.5 iron dukes would be a direct bolt in? I am looking at one from a 1988 s-10. I would assume this would bolt to the trans no prob but wanted to make sure before I spend a few hundred bucks on it!
It is not carburated and I don't believe the 88 s10 would be either. I would assume it has tbi like my camaro.
Probably not a common thing for a guy to be fixing a 4cyl camaro but what the hey its looks good and gets decent gas milage for the car. around 22-25mpg if I recall but thats been years ago now so I could be mistaken.
any help would be greatly appreciated! Or a 2.5 engine for sale in the Indiana areawould be nice too!
Thanks.
Jimmy

RE: 1982 Camaro w/ 2.5 Iron duke
if its tbi i think your gonna need the computer from the s10 but besides that and some mounting problems (may need mounts from a 2.5 camaro) it should bolt to a t5 or a 700r tranny no problem i dont know what your 4 speed is
