Spice up my '70 Camaro SS!!!
Hi all, I'm new to this board and am here for advice on spicing up my 1970 Camaro SS. This car is 100% original with 35,000 miles on it. It was my dad's second car he ever owned and bought it as the second owner in 1971.
I would like to keep this car somewhat original (even though I never plan on selling it) but want to add some mods to it. I want to add Flowmaster Exhaust (which series I'm not sure) and some nice wheels and tires to it. So here's what I need:
1). Which Flowmaster exhaust package do I want? They offer a package that comes out of a single Series 80 muffler behind the tranny or go with the true duals with two Series 40 mufflers. I want an aggressive sound both outside and inside the car.
2). What wheels and tires do you suggest? I do not want to modify the suspension if I can help it but would like to put a wider, bigger tire on the back than in the front. What tire/wheel size can I fit with the stock suspension? (The bigger the better without causing headaches.)
Thanks for the help!!

Welcome to the forums, post some picks when you get a chance. as far as wheels. I have a 74 with a fresh 454 in her. I am going through the same deal with the rims. The 2 sets that catch my eyes the most is the American Racing torque thrust's,and the one's that I plan to get are the CenterLine Convo Pro star's. 15X 8.5 rear and 15X7 front. Tire sizes are 235/60 and 255/60 .As for the exhaust,Are you going with headers? There are better mufflers out there now for these cars, Magna flow, and DynoMax has a 1,000 CFM straight through design that sounds mean, and adds Hp.

Hey man...if that car's all original...keep your parts...save EVERYTHING. You wont regret it. And ditch the flowmaster...they suck. Go magnaflow or if you get a custom one made go for a borla system.

definitely agree with losing the Flowmaster and I think Hooker is the best headers for these cars
74454bb is pretty much right with tire sizes but 245 might be a little safer in back (sometimes these cars vary a little). a real nice look (and not expensive) is a 245/50/16 on an 8" wide rim in all 4 corners. your car will handle a LOT better and you also still have the ability to rotate your tires when the back ones start getting worn down from burning 'em up!

Yeah, 245's would look good on all 4. The only reason for the 255 on the back of mine is the big block motor. I think Camaro's look fast when they sit on 235's or 245's all the way around. What motor is in your car? If it's a Big Block car I would put on a Harwood Fiberglass hood to lighten up the front a little. Anothger cool wheel choice are the SLT muscle car wheels. http://www.wheeltechintl.com/ Let us know what you pick, and post those picks.
